Claire Rufo MSW, RSW is a registered social worker with a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Toronto. She also earned an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Anthropology from the University of Toronto.
Claire has extensive psychiatric social work experience in various hospital and community settings in Toronto and in London, England. She has dedicated her career to the field of mental health and has provided therapeutic interventions in relation to mood and anxiety disorders, first episode psychosis, forensic social work and post-traumatic stress disorder. Currently, Claire works with adults and their families living with the effects of traumatic brain injuries and complex orthopaedic injuries. She is strengths-based in her approach, drawing from a variety of modalities including cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy and mindfulness-based stress reduction.
Prior to joining The Social Work Consulting Group in 2012, Claire worked at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health as the social worker for the Women’s Mental Health Program, an inpatient and outpatient service specializing in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder. Here, Claire developed a keen interest in specialized trauma treatment and helping individuals, families and groups rebuild their lives after life-altering traumatic events.
